    • Man is crushed – Charles Manuwal has life crushed out under the wheels of a tractor.

Charles Manuwal was found dead Wednesday evening by his wife, at their home about 10 miles northwest of this place, his body pinned to the round with a tractor wheel, and the real cause of death is a mystery.

His wife had prepared the evening meal and after waiting quite a while past the regular time for her husband to come, went to the field and was horrified to find her husband in the position mentioned above, and dead.

She hastily called for help; neighbors came, gathered the body up and took it to the home.

The exact cause of death never will be known.

Many surmised he was stricken with heart trouble while running the tractor and fell underneath it; another theory is that the tractor stopped and Mr. Manuwal got off to crank it up, when it started and caught him under the wheel; still another theory is that he might have reached over the wheel to adjust some oil cup or other part of the machine, while it was running and fell off.

The wife has been ill for more than a year.

About that time her husband called her from the house, one day, to help hold a barn door while he replaced it on the track, or some such job.

The door fell, pinning the wife under it and broke several bones and since that time she has been an invalid, but able to do the house work.

This untimely death of her husband is a serious blow to her condition and serious results are feared.

Mr. Manuwal is a cousin of Chancery Berkey of this place, who went to the home immediately.
