Car Kills Woman as She Ducks Rain.
Mrs. Ethel Trimple, 47 was fatally injured when she was hit by an automobile on Rocky River Drive at Ernadale Avenue N.W. last night while she held a newspaper over her head to protect herself from the rain.
She was on her way from a residence where she did housework.
Shortly before midnight, about three hours after the accident, Mrs. Trimple died in St. John's Hospital, victim of the year.
Last year at the 75th Cleveland traffic fatality this time the toll was 64.
The driver of the southbound car which hit her tried to swerve, but was unable to avoid her and then collided with a northbound automobile, police said. The driver was not held.
At the hospital it was found that Mrs. Trimple, mother of four children, had suffered a fracture of the left leg, a vertebra fracture and head lacerations.
